COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGY (TGJ3M)
This course examines communications technology from a media perspective. Students will develop knowledge and skills as they design and produce media projects in the areas of live, recorded, and graphic communications. These areas may include TV, video, and movie production; radio and audio production; print and graphic communications; photography; digital imaging; broadcast journalism; and interactive new media. Students will also develop an awareness of related environmental and societal issues, and will explore college and university programs and career opportunities in the various communications technology fields.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS:
All equipment and materials for a variety of projects will be provided. There is a $10 course fee to help cover the costs of items such as tapes, CD's DVD and photo supplies. Please pay this fee before the end of the first week of class.
Students are required to have a binder or labeled section of a larger binder for class notes and handouts.

EXPECTATIONS:
• Attend class regularly.
• Arrive on time with appropriate materials, ready to work.
• Behave in a courteous, considerate and respectful manner towards other students and the teacher.
• Treat all school equipment with care at all times. This includes not bringing food or drink into the
computer lab. Any malicious damage to school equipment will result in immediate removal from the
classroom.
• All work should demonstrate thoughtfulness, care and an attention to detail.
• Keep a binder organized into the following sections. 5 dividers will be needed and are to be labeled as
follows:
• Photography
• Graphic Design
• Animation
• Videography
• Final Project
• If you know in advance that you will be absent for a test or a submission due date, you are expected to discuss the circumstances with your teacher and make alternative arrangements ahead of time.
• All assignments are due at the beginning of class on the assigned day. If you do not complete the work you may be asked to attend Study Hall after school to do so. If, despite intervention on the part of your teacher, you do not submit work in a timely manner, your teacher may deduct 5% of the achieved grade per school day up to a maximum of 25% of the achieved grade, giving consideration to individual student
needs and circumstances.
• All students will be present on exam day for their final demonstration. A doctor's certificate must be presented if you miss.
