XC OFSAA Update

by Ann Gilmore | Nov 04, 2019

Your cross-country Bulldogs sent four hard working teams to Sudbury on the weekend for the provincial championships.

Our team was met by several centimeters of snow with ice underneath it for their Friday viewing of the course.  On race day Saturday, the snow and then rain continued to fly, but then again, so did our runners.  Our novice boys led the way by taking a gold medal, bolstered by grade nine Nate Rose's thrilling 3rd place finish.  Congratulations to team members Marco Defelice, Matt Taubeneck, Walker Rollo and Redding Maxwell.

Our junior boys were up next and despite being plagued by injuries throughout the season and during the race, ran for their lives and stole a 6th place finish despite their injuries AND being seeded 8th in the province.

Our senior girls, which included 2 grade 10's and 2 grade 11s, racing against mainly 12s, pulled out a fantastic result of 4th place overall.  This clearly has many coaches across the province nervous about the powerhouse team they will face next year.

In the final race of the day which was now on a course of slush, mud and gravel, our senior boys, despite losing one of our top runners to injury during the race, fought off all but two teams to capture an unexpected bronze medal.  These hard-fought results brought the Bulldogs another first place: the Ontario overall boys team title.

Congratulations to all Bulldog runners and coaches for an amazing season!  Want to be a part of this experience next year?  Please see Mr. Predovich for information.
